Cookie Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Atlantis Events, Inc. (“Atlantis”, “we”, “our” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on atlantisevents.com, what each one does, and how you can control them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages and between visits, such as that you are signed in or which choices you made. “First-party” cookies are set by the site you are visiting (atlantisevents.com). “Third-party” cookies are set by another company whose service the site uses, such as Google or Meta.
We also use technologies that work in a similar way, and this policy covers them too: your browser’s local storage and session storage (small pieces of data kept on your device), tracking pixels (tiny images or scripts that tell a server a page was viewed or an email was opened) and tags (code from a provider that runs on our pages). We call all of these “cookies” below.
How we use cookies
- To run the site — keeping you signed in, holding your cabin while you book, protecting our forms from spam and remembering your cookie choices.
- To remember your preferences — for example, not showing you the newsletter pop-up again once you have subscribed.
- To understand how the site is used — counting visits and seeing which pages and vacations people look at, and testing changes to pages (A/B testing), so we can improve the site.
- For marketing — measuring which advertisements and campaigns bring people to us, and showing relevant Atlantis advertising on other websites and social media.
Some of our own reporting on how people move through the booking process works without any cookie at all: it uses a short-lived, anonymous key that changes every day and is never stored on your device.
Your choices depend on where you are
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. When you first visit, a banner asks for your consent. Until you agree, we set only strictly necessary cookies: Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager and the Meta Pixel do not load at all, no campaign or referral details are stored and you are not entered into A/B tests. You can accept all, reject all or choose by category (Analytics, Marketing and Preferences), and rejecting is as easy as accepting. If we cannot tell where you are visiting from, we treat you as if you were in one of these countries.
Visitors in the United States. All cookie categories are on by default and no banner is shown. Instead, the footer of every page has a “Your Privacy Choices” link (with the privacy options icon). It opens a dialog where you can switch off Preferences, Analytics and Marketing, and opt out of the “Sale or sharing of personal information” (see section 5 below). If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it automatically as an opt-out of sale or sharing, with nothing more for you to do (see “How to manage cookies” below).
Visitors everywhere else. All cookie categories are on by default and no banner is shown. You can see and change your choices at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
“Your Privacy Choices” and “Cookie settings” open the same dialog, and wherever you are, a choice you have saved there is respected. We keep your choice for 180 days; after that, or if this policy changes in a way that affects it, the defaults for your region apply again and, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask again. So that we can show we respected your choice, we keep a record of it: a random identifier, the date and time, your choice for each category (including sale or sharing, for US visitors), the version of this policy, whether the choice came from you or from a Global Privacy Control signal, the country or region and the language you were visiting in, and a one-way hash of your browser’s user agent (a scrambled code derived from your browser type and version, which cannot be turned back into it). We never store your IP address in this record.
The cookies we use
Durations are the longest a cookie lasts unless it is renewed or you delete it; some browsers shorten them. A “session” item is deleted when you close your browser or tab.
1. Strictly necessary
These are needed for the site to work and for services you ask for, such as signing in or booking. They are always on and cannot be switched off in the privacy settings dialog. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site will then not work.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cadence_consent | Atlantis | Stores your privacy choices, including any opt-out of sale or sharing, so we can respect them. | 180 days | First-party cookie |
| cadence_region | Atlantis | Stores the country (and, in some cases, the state or region) you are visiting from, so we know whether to ask for consent and which privacy options apply. | 24 hours | First-party cookie |
| cadence_gpc | Atlantis | Records that your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, so your opt-out is honored before anything else on the page loads. Set only when your browser sends the signal, and removed when it stops. | 24 hours | First-party cookie |
| __Secure-better-auth.session_token | Atlantis | Keeps you signed in to your guest account, the travel agent portal or staff tools. | 7 days | First-party cookie |
| __Secure-better-auth.session_data | Atlantis | A short-lived copy of your sign-in session that speeds up page loads while you are signed in. | 5 minutes | First-party cookie |
| atlantis_booking_session | Atlantis | Holds the cabin or room you have selected while you complete a booking made directly on our site. | 12 hours | First-party cookie |
| Turnstile | Cloudflare | Checks that a form (such as contact, newsletter or travel agent registration) is being submitted by a person and not a bot. | Session | Third-party |
Our site is hosted and protected by Cloudflare, which may also set short-lived security cookies (for example __cf_bm, 30 minutes) when it needs to tell people and automated traffic apart.
2. Preferences
These remember choices you make so we do not have to ask again. They contain no identifier, stay on your device and are not shared with anyone.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| atl-newsletter-signup | Atlantis | Remembers that you subscribed to our newsletter or closed the sign-up pop-up, so it is not shown again. | 365 days after subscribing; 15 days after closing | Local storage |
| atl-newsletter-modal-session | Atlantis | Stops the newsletter pop-up appearing more than once during a visit. | Session | Session storage |
| atlantis.cabinPicker | Atlantis | Remembers whether you prefer to choose a cabin from the deck plan or from the list. | Until you clear it | Local storage |
3. Analytics
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how people arrive and where they leave — and let us test improvements. Google Analytics reports to us in aggregate.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit (session) for our Google Analytics property. | 2 years | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another within a day. | 24 hours | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| cadence_ab_visitor | Atlantis | A random identifier used when we test two versions of a page (A/B testing), so results are counted once per visitor. | 1 year | First-party cookie |
| cadence_ab_<test ID> | Atlantis | Remembers which version of a page you were shown in a test, so it stays the same on your next visit. | 90 days | First-party cookie |
| cadence_ab_<event>_<test ID> | Atlantis | Makes sure a view or conversion in a test is counted only once. | Until you clear it | Local storage |
4. Marketing
These measure which advertisements, partners and campaigns bring visitors and bookings, and let us and our advertising partners show you relevant Atlantis advertising on other websites and apps. Google and Meta may combine this information with what they already know about you, under their own privacy policies.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Measures how our Google advertising leads to visits and bookings (conversion tracking). | 90 days | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Stores the click identifier when you arrive from one of our Google ads. | 90 days | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Identifies your browser to the Meta Pixel so Meta can measure and target our advertising. | 90 days | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| _fbc | Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Stores the click identifier when you arrive from one of our Meta ads. | 90 days | Third-party service, set as a first-party cookie |
| Google and Meta cookies on their own domains | Google, Meta | Advertising and fraud-prevention cookies that these companies set on their own domains (such as google.com, doubleclick.net and facebook.com) when their tags run on our pages. | Set by each provider | Third-party cookie |
| atlantis_attribution | Atlantis | Records how you first found us — the campaign details in the link you followed (such as utm_ parameters and ad click identifiers) and the referring website — so we can tell which campaigns lead to bookings. | 30 days | First-party cookie |
| atlantisReferralParams | Atlantis | Keeps the referral partner, promotion and campaign codes from the link you followed, so they can be passed on when you book and you receive the right offer. | 30 days | Local storage |
Our Google and Meta tags are loaded through Google Tag Manager, a tool that manages which tags run on the site. Tag Manager itself does not set cookies for its own purposes.
5. Sale or sharing of personal information (United States)
Some US state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, treat the use of advertising cookies and pixels — such as the Google Ads and Meta cookies listed under Marketing — as a “sale” of personal information or “sharing” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands. We do not sell personal information for money. If you are in the US, you can opt out of this sale or sharing at any time: select “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer of any page and switch off “Sale or sharing of personal information”. We then turn off these cookies for your browser: Google’s tags are told not to use your information for advertising, the Meta Pixel does not run, and we stop setting the atlantis_attribution cookie. Switching off Marketing has the same effect, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we apply the same opt-out automatically. Because the opt-out is stored in your browser, you will need to repeat it on each browser and device you use, and again if you clear your cookies.
Other places cookies are used
Booking with our reservations provider. Many of our vacations are booked on res.atlantisevents.com, which is operated for us by our reservations provider. Those pages use their own cookies and show their own notices, which this policy does not cover.
Embedded videos. Some pages include videos played through Vimeo. When a Vimeo player loads, Vimeo may set its own cookies; see Vimeo’s cookie policy for details.
Our emails. Our marketing emails, sent through Salesforce Marketing Cloud, contain small tracking pixels and tracked links that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to improve our emails and to stop emailing people who no longer read them. You can prevent this by turning off automatic image loading in your email app, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every marketing email.
How to manage cookies
- Cookie settings. Select “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page to see and change your choices by category. (In the United States the footer shows “Your Privacy Choices” in its place, which opens the same dialog.) You can withdraw consent there at any time; when you turn off Analytics or Marketing, we stop loading those tags and delete the cookies of that category that we are able to remove from our domain.
- Your Privacy Choices (US visitors). In the United States, select “Your Privacy Choices” (with the privacy options icon) in the footer of any page. It opens the same dialog, with one more switch, “Sale or sharing of personal information”: turn it off to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising. You can also switch off Preferences, Analytics and Marketing there.
- Global Privacy Control. If you are in the United States and your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it automatically as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser, before any advertising tag runs and with nothing more for you to do. While your browser keeps sending the signal, the dialog says that it is being honored and the “Sale or sharing of personal information” switch stays off, and we do not set the atlantis_attribution cookie. Our record of your choice notes that the opt-out came from a GPC signal.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you see, delete and block cookies, including blocking only third-party cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. If you block all cookies, you will not be able to sign in or book online.
- The providers’ own tools. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, Google’s ad settings and Meta’s ad preferences.
Third parties
These companies provide services that set or read cookies on our site. Each one handles the information under its own privacy policy:
- Google (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager) — How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Meta (Meta Pixel, for Facebook and Instagram advertising) — Meta Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare (hosting, security and Turnstile) — Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Vimeo (embedded videos) — Vimeo Cookie Policy
- Salesforce (Marketing Cloud, for our emails) — Salesforce Privacy
- Our reservations provider (bookings on res.atlantisevents.com) — see the notices on those pages.
Some of these companies are based in the United States, so information collected through their cookies may be transferred there. Our Privacy Policy explains how we protect it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we change the cookies we use or how we use them. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change affects choices you have made, we will ask you again where the law requires it.
